PDE #5 Thank You

Hello, Friends.  We're doing thank you cards at the PDE Linky Challenge this week.  My Christmas cactus is blooming up a storm right now and so I was inspired to make a card with a Flourishes lc stamp of a Christmas cactus.  Coloring an embossed image with Twinkling H2O's is a snap and so much fun.  Love the shimmer!  Join us this week!

Hello, Friends.  I pulled out a Flourishes set, Apple of My Eye, for my card today.  Hope you enjoy it.  Looks like a teacher card, doesn't it?

Fresh Bouquet

Hello, friends.  Today I am in the studio with stamps by Inspired by Stamping.  I'm using Fresh Bouquet.  The happy everything sentiment from the Happy Thoughts set from Flourishes lc makes this card versatile and it will be happy mail for someone very soon.

Luscious Layers

My cards today use a set called Luscious Layers from Flourishes.  The first card uses a die with an Art Deco feel to it. How serendipitous that the image nestles in the middle of the die.  I love when these happy coincidences occur.

While the die was out, I thought, let's try that again.  With a little digital magic, I removed the cake stand and made the cake larger.  Another embossing folder and a different sentiment, and another birthday card was born.

My last card uses a flip card die from Sizzix with the Luscious Layers image again.  Inside is Happy Birthday from the Heartfelt Words set.

Heartfelt Words

My cards today use a set called  Heartfelt Words.

My first two cards use the galaxy technique.  You watercolor splotches of color onto watercolor paper, add a black wash over it all using circular motions, and add silver or white dots to simulate stars.

The second card uses the same galaxy technique with an American Craft globe die, metallic card stock, Peerless watercolors, acrylic paints, and, of course, Heartfelt Words by Flourishes lc.

I couldn't resist making a third card when I stumbled across this silver-accented designer paper in my stash.  Sometimes, you can just let the designer paper create the inspiration for the card.

Hello, friends.  It must be summer because I am thinking gingham and patterns.    My card uses a sentiment from Stitched for You from Flourishes and a quilt die cut.  Enjoy!

Hello, friends, and hello, summer!  For today's card,  I chose Wild for Watermelon from Flourishes lc.  Hope you are having a wonderful start of summer!

Glitter Time

Hello, friends.  We've been traveling so I thought I would share a card I made before we left.  I love glitter and I love feather images so I pulled out a Flourishes set called So This Is Easter, and the rooster image is a particular favorite, but there's also a feather that can be very versatile in the digital format.  I love that you can resize the image so one size feather from So This Is Easter and it can be made into three sizes of feathers for this layout.  I also love that an Easter set has other images to use for other occasions.

This card has dry embossing, die cuts, Chameleon coloring, and a touch of glitter.  Now, just don't look at my studio floor, LOL! 

So the card above was the first stage of the card.  Below, you will see how the card ended up.  I wanted to try Distress Oxides on the sentiment from Tweeting Friends.  What should the third version have?  Gold Nuvo drops?  Sequins on the black?

Flourishes' Go Tell It on the Mountain

Hello, friends.  Vickie Y. challenged the Friends DT for Flourishes to use embossing, and I chose to interpret the challenge as dry embossing.  What a great way to take a look at embossing folders that I had not used before! I used the digital file for Go Tell It on the Mountain, that seemed to be the perfect accompanying piece for a new folder.  The card went postal to a friend who needed spiritual encouragement.

Camellia Love

Hello, Friends.  Our challenge this week from Flourishes Friends DT Toni is to use "silver."  I love this metallic paper and thought of it as soon as the challenge went out.  

Here it is paired with Camellia Love from Flourishes lc without a sentiment because I am not sure which event will come up that this card will be appropriate for. My plan is to have the sentiment at the base of the plant hiding the base of the circular shape.  Maybe this card will be for myself since today is my birthday!

Today's tip:  Have a pile of stamped sentiments on die cut shapes for events --birthdays, anniversaries, thinking of you, and sympathy-- and you can easily pop what you need onto a finished card at a moment's notice.

A Tree in the Breeze

Hello, Friends.  The Friends DT was challenged this week to create a scene.  I love this Fall Tree set from Flourishes lc and I thought of it right away.  I did a little digital magic and removed a pumpkin that was at the base of the tree so the image would be more spring or summer-like.   I used chalks for the sky, leaves, and ground under the tree.  I added the small bird images from the Winter Birds set. The sentiments are from Fuji Mums and Fall Tree.  

I think these will be wonderful masculine cards, but I added three different sentiments in case another occasion came up.

Flourishes You Are Loved

Hello, Friends.  I challenged the team to use layers this week.  I had intended to add a few more layers to my card, but I ended up liking it with only about 4 layers.   I love roses and so did my Mom.  

In Florida, roses are more than a challenge so I am especially sorry that I didn't know about Knockout Roses while my Mom was alive because I would have loved to plant some for her.  I have a roses card for you today using the Flourishes Endearing Rose set with a sentiment from Thistle.  I'm thinking of you, Mom!

Flourishes Green & Purple & Petunias
