Paper Frame TY

Here's a paper frame card for Speedy TV/Tutorial Time.  It uses a sentiment from the MFP Autumn Friends Mini set and K and Co double-sided paper.  Enjoy--and thanks for being my blogging friend!

HB for a Guy

Time to work on a HB card for my brother-in-law.  Because I am sure he is tired of the vintage auto image that I seem to rely on for masculine birthday cards, I pulled out MFP's Celebrate mini set.  I love the birthday cake and the font used for the sentiment.  Inside it says:  Over the hill is better than under it!  I think he will get a real chuckle out of the sentiment.  This also fits the Sketch with a Twist challenge at Speedy TV.  Thanks for stopping by!  Be sure to leave a comment or become a follower if you can.

Friends Are Birds of a Feather

Hello!  My mind is on birds right now because we have a nest nearby and the parental units keep banging into windows on all sides on our house on their way to feed the little ones.  We are so afraid they will do themselves in.  We think we may have narrowed down the identification of the bird family to Eastern Phoebes.  So when MFP/Simple Salutations announced a challenge called Birds of a Feather, I pulled out my UM stamps in CD cases and I am making cards with all the images in the case.  The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers, a set called Autumn Friends.  The image may be Inkadinkado or Impression Obsession.  Check out the entries at Sweet Pea Stampers as well!  Enjoy your day and listen for the birds!

Beary Cute Fancy Fold

Sit Back and Relax, Friends, with this sentiment from the MFP mini Adirondack Summer stamp set.  The little bears are nestled under their umbrella and are just enjoying being together.   I stamped the umbrella from another set and inserted it between the bear couple.  This is a fancy fold card, a Stand Up Z Fold card,  for the TTSTV--that's Tutorial Time at SpeedyTV challenge at Mark's Finest Papers.  It uses DP (designer paper) and two different label dies from SB (Spellbinders).  Don't you just love those abbreviations?  Stop in again soon!

A is for Abundance

Think back to when the book Simple Abundance first hit the shelves.  I remember it well.  It is always good to revisit the "what's good about this" idea daily to keep your focus from a book that became one of my all-time favorites.  Today's card celebrates Abundance and meets several challenges.  But, best of all, it's a reminder to myself that no matter who or what in life might disappoint you temporarily, each day brings a multitude of blessings to celebrate.  Today, celebrate your blessings as  well!  Make a card that reminds you of your blessings and prop it up in a place where you will see it often.

Bold Border and a Daisy

Hello, Bloggers!  The card today began with a challenge to myself:  Use what is already in the "basket".  The "basket" is really a tote that sits under my counter to hold items I've pulled for other cards or the left overs--dp, images, embells .... you get the idea.  With the available items, I followed the Sketch with a Twist at SpeedyTV request to use a fancy border and that certainly set the theme for the sketch.  Then I added the MFP image colored with Copics and the MFP sentiment.  I wish you could see the shimmer of the alcohol ink dp used.   That dp was created summers ago and I just love the colors.  I guess you can guess why my work basket is overflowing! There is an inspiration image for a challenge this week for FOSTV.  I wanted to reflect the simplicity of the room and the colors used.  The wonderful sentiment is from the Mark's Finest Papers All About Love mini set I just received.  It is sure to become a favorite!  This card will also be perfect for Word Art Wednesday.  Be sure to put more love in your heart today!

Inspiration Station for Spring Swap Cards

The theme for a swap at MFP is Spring and working with the colors and images is a cheerful experience.  To get ready, I first had to file away hearts images and create an "inspiration station" for spring.  What fun that was!  I found stamp sets that have been lurking among all the UM cd cases, and yummy colored ribbons for embellishing. And don't forget those buttons!   I can't wait to start playing with new colors and images.  I will post the fruits of my labors soon.

Faux Frosting and How I Became a Glitter Girl

After working on my healthy eating plan and battling the holidays and two trips, I have decided that there is entirely too much sitting and too many desserts in my daily routine.   This card for Tutorial Time at Mark's Finest Papers is just the ticket!  I call it LoCal Desserts since I will only be looking at the desserts and not tasting them.  The technique is called Faux Frosting and you can see it on the cake frosting.  With Valentine's Day chocolates in all the stores, I will be gazing at this card AND the scale, and doing my stamping standing up to keep me on track!  A little Zumba wouldn't hurt and a second daily walk through the neighborhood would probably help as well. Wild Thing!

A Giraffe, an Elephant, and an Alligator, Oh My!  Wild thing!

Today, I am working on an Animals plus Sketch Challenge at MFT/SpeedyTV.  When I found my animals set, I noticed I had attached two sheets of technique paper using waxed paper and ink that reminded me of a giraffe so that's how I started with the sketch.  I had to adjust the sketch to match the sizes of the stamps, but I think I still managed to make the sentiment the dominant portion of the card.  Maybe my hubby will get Wild Thing!  as his non-traditional Valentine's Day card.  He hates the red and white color combinations for the traditional cards.  You can see the challenge at http://mfpspeedytv.ning.com/page/sketch-with-a-twist-challenge-32-02-05-13.

B/W/Y At the Beach

The flowers are in bloom, the birds are singing, the stream is roaring, and our friends are at the beach.  In honor of their beach trip for the holiday weekend, I made a black/white/yellow card.  Yellow for the sun, white because they will start off pale without a tan, and black because blue seemed too predictable.  I challenged myself to use a die and gingham ribbon so you will see those elements.  I found a white heart button and a great sentiment from MFP.  So this card is off to the Sketch with a Twist challenge and I am off to run an estate errand.

Happy July 3rd and 4th!

I've had a busy two days making Santa leggings and socks.  A day without a glue gun burn is a good crafting day!  While waiting for the hot glue gun to get hot, I've been making cards for MFP/Speedy TV challenges.  I can't seem to stop myself.  I will make one card and soon I am on to the next one.  Unfortunately, the glue gun does eventually get hot enough and I have to get back to the "job".  Now the difficulty will be to decide which I think I should post on the site.  I love this image and it is special to me because my Mom had a sewing machine just like this one.  You are sure to see me use it often.  And what's happening at MFP/Speedy TV?  Lots of interesting challenges and the cards are amazing.  I find myself thinking, I wish I had thought of that.  I am enjoying seeing what other ladies are coming up with.

Red/White/Blue

I can't believe that is it July already.  With so much sadness in my life since January, I am happy to see Independence Day looming on the horizon.    With Mark's Finest Papers suggesting a red, white, and blue theme this week, I was happy to try to work with some patriotic colors again this week.  I chose an MFP lighthouse image from Light My Way and decided I wanted to do a fairly CAS card with an emphasis on the image.  So here is my final product. I used a Provocraft greeting die and the argyle background stamp.  It was fun to do and it is fun to share it with you!

Using Metal/In Stitches

Today the challenge to myself was to make a second metal card for the Mark's Finest Papers challenge on using metal.  I wanted to use the In Stitches set I won for the blog hop entries, so I ended up with threading "stitches" through metal eyelets.  I was going to add an image, but I just loved the sentiment and stopped there.  Tomorrow, maybe I can try adding an image and see how I like it.  Meanwhile, the SU square lattice embossing folder that looks so much like fabric and some of my favorite K&Company paper did the trick with a faux ribbon with a herringbone emblossing folder.  I "did" it--deemed it done.  I think the In Stitches set from MFP is sure to become a favorite!  So many possibilities!

Using Metal

At MFP there is a challenge to use metal on a card.  Because all my metal embells are elsewhere, I will have to try some new approaches.  Luckily I do have my alc reinkers so I can play with color a little.  Here is one attempt.  I think I will try more cards to see what I can come up with.  These challenges are certainly getting me to try some new things.  Who knew I would become a blogger again and who knew I would enter challenges.  This is a new experience for me.

Some Santas

I promised to post some photos of completed Santa projects and here they are!  Because we won't be doing any craft fairs this year, I am wondering how many different designs we should attempt.  We will only have the craft co-op as an outlet.  We'd better get out there and find some other outlets!

Homespun July 4th

While the Santa eyes are drying, I had time to play with my limited number of stamps I managed to pack to bring north.  I found a jar stamp and filled it with hearts.  That started the idea forming.  Use up strips of red, white, and blue cs to create a herringbone quilt background.  Add a USA heart and mount them all on a white-striped background.  I like the end result and it makes me feel patriotic in a homey sort of way. Smile!

Pink and Green Smile Card

Today was a scorcher, and I spent the day working in the studio gluing mop cord beards on Santas.  We have completely finished two designs and have about 4 more in the works.  I will be posting some photos next week as we complete more of them.  In the meantime, I have been working on a card for the MFP Tutorial Challenge.  It involved stamping an image, cutting it out, using it as a mask, and then using the image.  They are calling it Positive and Negative Masking.  It's a new technique and my pale pink and white flower card is my entry in the challenge.  The flower stamp is from Heartfelt Creations, the die labels are from Quickutz I think, the leaf die is from Provocraft, and there is a Victoriana embossing folder used as well.  The sentiment is from the dollar bin at Joann's or Michael's.
