Starry Walk in the Woods

Hello, crafty friends!  Mama Bear and her cubs are taking a walk in the woods on a starry night for my post for Blue Knight Stamps today.  I heat embossed in black against a watercolor galaxy sky.

Blue Knight Stamps is doing a September New Release giveaway! Head over to the FANS OF BLUE KNIGHT RUBBER STAMPS Facebook group HERE, to enter!

It's easy to make a watercolor galaxy sky.  Take watercolor paper and add swirling strokes of dark blue, dark red, dark aqua, and purple to the paper.  Spritz with water if you would like for the colors to blend. After it dries, create a black wash and add to some parts of the card. Add white gesso flicks or silver dots for the stars.  There are many tutorials out there on the Galaxy Technique.  Each one will be unique and fun to create.

Western Sunset

Hello, my dear friends! It's time to share a project for Blue Knight Rubber Stamps using a new release image called Ranch Fence.  It reminds me of the trips we made out west in our motor home.  I loved the western sunsets! I used alcohol markers for most of the scene and the sunrise and sunset Pan Pastels for the sunset.

Heading Out to the Barn

I am waiting for fall and each day that we have just a small dip in the temperatures, I am assured that it is coming.  Today, I am featuring a Blue Knight Rubber Stamp image called Path to the Barn.  I pulled out my Zig Real Brush markers and did an impressionist technique for watercoloring.  Hope you like it.

Swallowtail Wax Batik

I used a technique called Wax Batik for the background.  I have included a tutorial below so you can try it yourself with a BKRS stamp.  If you do, be sure to share it on our fan page.  And Blue Knight Stamps is doing a September New Release giveaway!
Head over to the FANS OF BLUE KNIGHT RUBBER STAMPS Facebook group HERE, to enter!

And how did I do the card?  After I  had fun making the  background, I heat embossed the image of the butterfly it and fussy cut it out.  I mounted the Tiger Swallowtail image and mounted the batik piece on the card blank.

And here is how I made the background.
Take piece of copy paper.
Draw a design on your paper.
I used a black marker for my sections
because I wanted it to look a little like stained glass.

Color with wax crayons

or scribble randomly on paper in large sections.
Be sure to use a hard pressure so you get a lot of wax on the paper.

Crumple the paper two or three times so you have lots of cracks.
Slowly and carefully unfold paper and flatten it out.

Water down a dark color acrylic paint
like black, dark blue, dark red or purple.
Paint your paper with darker color paint using a wide brush
and blot off extra paint that pools.
The watery paint will sink into the cracks
but will not stick as well to the waxed areas
creating the batik look.
Allow the paper to dry completely.

Finish the card.  Cut the batik paper in the size
you would like to use on your card.

And Le voilà !
 There it is!
Your wax batik background card with a
wonderful BKRS image!

BKRS Glittery Snowy Village

Hello, my dear friends!
It's time to share a project for Blue Knight Rubber Stamps.
This month, we are focusing on the winter holidays.

For my projects this month, I will be using
Heidi's Tree, Snowy Village, and Come Let Us Adore Him.
Today I am using Snowy Village.
along with card stock and papers from LCI Paper.

This card uses an interesting technique called the Dryer Sheet Technique.
Color your image with vivid colors. I used Chameleon Color Tone Pens for this one.
Run your image, face down, through a Xyron machine so the image side will be sticky.
Place a used dryer sheet on top and flatten down.
Sprinkle with fine glitter and rub it into the dryer sheet.
Tap off excess glitter and complete the card.

So sparkly!

Florida doesn't have any snow but we have days that look like this card.
You may have days like this before your first snowfall.
This card reminds me of Kanapaha Prairie in Gainesville
where we lived for 19 years

Prayer Flower

Hello, my dear friends!
It's time to share a project for Blue Knight Rubber Stamps
and it's from the new July release.
My project today uses the stamp set called Prayer Flower.

I heat embossed it with black embossing powder and added Pan Pastels
to shade the flower and leaves.  Then just a few die frames
and the card was complete.
The largest layer frame was colored with Pan Pastels
purchased from BKRS as well.
You can find them here.
I love the subtle shading you can get with the Pan Pastels.
